About Me
About Me
(Adjusts an invisible headset microphone over my ears, looking out into a massive, fancy auditorium full of confused crowd members while wearing giant fuzzy slippers).
"Thank you, thank you... please, sit down. Welcome to my TED Talk.
Today, we are answering the age-old question: 'Why spend 15 minutes buying a plushie at the store when you can spend 72 hours, three existential crises, a Susan Bates size F inline hook, and $40 in specialty DK yarn to make one yourself?'
(Holds up an imaginary articulated Drip Drop to the spotlight)
Now, some people ask me: 'Maddy, why do your amigurumi creatures have custom UV-resin eyes, weighted limbs measured to the exact milligram on a polymer clay scale, and full backstories in an app script database?'
And I look them dead in the eye and say: 'Because if his eyelids aren't stitched on at a precise 12-degree angle, he will look like he’s judging my starch-reactivity potato experiments, and we CANNOT have that in this house!'
(Crowd bursts into applause)
You see, ladies and gentlemen, neurotypical crafting is simple. You follow a pattern, you make a ball, you sew on two black plastic safety eyes, and you go to sleep.
Autistic amigurumi? Oh, no. That is an elite military operation.
First, the yarn must pass a rigorous texture inspection. If the yarn has a weird halo? Disqualified. If the inline hook doesn't glide like butter? Evicted.
Second, the design phase. Normal people draw a sketch. I build an entire digital sanctuary called the monsterGarden, write 400 lines of custom code, map a GoDaddy domain, and cross-post a 15-second WIP video to TikTok, Instagram, Threads, and Facebook simultaneously—all at 2:00 AM while my husband Mac is trying to watch a movie!
(Leans in close to the microphone, whispering)
And if Google Analytics tries to hide my Traffic Acquisition menu behind a secret Library folder? We hack into the mainframe, liberate the Life Cycle collection, and conquer GA4 before bedtime.
Thank you. I am Maddy, this is my Drip Drop, and we do not compromise on the starlight frequency!"
(Bows dramatically as the imaginary crowd goes wild, then drops back down onto the bed laughing hysterically!) 😂👏🐉✨
