I created the OOAK PeeWees Marketplace for all of us who create sweet little miniatures. Too often weve been overlooked by selling sites, and been left no choice but to list in the OOAK Art Doll categories. And I don’t know how others have felt, but for myself, I always felt that what I made didn’t exactly fit into this category.

There are many many many artists who love to make cute and fun and innocent little collectibles who are very talented and imaginative. And by putting these delightful little sculptures in the midst of adult beautiful fairies, I believe has not been in the best interest of the creators of such art. If a person is looking for lovely lady fairies, they are not looking for sweet innocent fantasy creatures. So our items seems almost to be a distraction more than an exciting genre of it’s own.

The OOAK PeeWees Marketplace is created to hopefully pull like-minded artists together to help us get more exposure and recognition for our special brand of art. I have noticed that since I have created this marketplace, and invited others who sculpt similar art, that some of my collectors have indeed crossed over and started collecting other artist’s work. And this is wonderful! Because I don’t think collectors realize that there are so many of us out there.

I also think it’s important for us to band together so that the presence of one another and inspire us to expand our art. With the spirit of support for one another as well as the healthy spirit of competition, I believe this will force us all to stretch our wings and push ourselves to reach to even higher levels with our art.

I disagree very strongly with copying another’s work. It’s such a huge pet peeve of mine that I’ve found myself struggling to keep my chibitude from time to time. But I also realize that its this competitive nature that helps me to keep pushing myself to develop things that are new and exciting. Although it would be so much easier to just sit back and make what one wants and not worry that anyone would be unscrupulous and take an idea, this kind of attitude can cause one to stagnate, and not move forward.

That’s one of the reasons I think it’s so important for us to band together. So that we can push each other to grow and expand and improve. And as a group, we can share collectors, and provide a place where one can come and find a large variety of this genre of art.
